A New Chapter for Howard County Cycling

Introducing Syndicate Bike Shop: Service, Coaching, Cycling Studio, & Sales

Henry and Casey Shoemaker are thrilled to announce that Syndicate Bike Shop is now open—and we couldn't be more excited to welcome you home.

Honoring a Legacy

Before we share our excitement, we want to acknowledge someone who made this moment possible.

John Hughes, founder of 90+ Cycling, is stepping back to focus on his health. For over a decade, John built more than a bike shop—he built a community. He taught countless cyclists how to ride smarter, fit better, and love the sport more deeply.

Our family was one of them.

If John has had an impact on your cycling journey like he did ours, please join us in wishing him well as he enters this next chapter.

Full Circle: From Student to Steward

Ten years ago, Henry and Casey Shoemaker brought their daughter Camille to John when she was just 10 years old, learning to ride a road bike. She attended his indoor and outdoor cycling classes, absorbing everything he taught about technique, power, and the mental game of cycling.  One of John’s favorite past times was spraying Camille with a water bottle sprayer to keep her from constantly talking during training classes.

A few years later, Camille went on to lead the bike leg at the USA Triathlon Youth and Junior National Championships. She raced the USAT draft-legal circuit, was offered multiple NCAA triathlon scholarships, and is now a Division I swimmer at Mount Saint Mary's University.

Henry trained with John too, attending indoor cycling classes before completing his first triathlon—Eagleman 70.3.

"Ten years ago, John taught our daughter to ride. Today, we're honored to carry forward the community he built."

— Casey & Henry Shoemaker

Who we are

The Shoemaker family has spent over a decade in Howard County's cycling and triathlon community. We lead Syndicate Endurance Team (S.E.T.), coaching 100+ youth athletes in triathlon, cross country, and indoor cycling, as well as a 35-member adult team—including beginners, a Youth National Champion, Ironman Professional, and multiple World Championship qualifiers. Cycling isn't our business. It's our life.

A Dream Years in the Making

This opportunity is a dream come true—though it comes with mixed emotions. For years, we've been searching for a space to host our indoor cycling classes. Our Syndicate Endurance Youth Cycling Team had grown to 25 youth athletes training in our basement, with a massive waitlist of families hoping to join. Now, finally, we have a home—and we're bringing Adult Indoor Cycling classes back to Red Branch Rd.

What is Syndicate Bike Shop?

Service. Expert road and triathlon bike repair from Jason Kamps, the same trusted mechanic who has served the 90+ community for years. Same quality. Same expertise. Same meticulous attention to your machine.

Studio. We're reviving the 90+ indoor cycling legacy with a full schedule of studio classes for youth and adult cyclists. Whether you're training for your first sprint tri or chasing a Kona slot, our studio is your winter training home.

Sales. Curated inventory for serious road and triathlon athletes. We're not trying to be everything to everyone—we specialize in what we know and love.

Community. Home base for the 150+ athletes and families of Syndicate Endurance Team. A place to gather before group rides, prep for race day, and connect with fellow cyclists and multisport athletes who share your passion.

Jason Stays

We know how important continuity is. That's why we're thrilled to announce that Jason Kamps is staying on as our lead mechanic.

Jason will miss John—we all will. But he's excited for this new chapter. He's already part of the S.E.T. family, having attended our annual banquet and known many of our athletes for years. Your bikes are in the same expert hands they've always been.

And One More Thing...

Remember Camille—the 10-year-old who learned to ride at 90+?

She helps lead our youth indoor cycling classes now.

Camille is a certified USA Triathlon coach who learned to love cycling in the same studio where she now teaches the next generation.

That's the kind of full-circle story we're building at Syndicate.

Come See Us

Syndicate Bike Shop is now open. Be on the lookout for our grand opening celebration—details coming soon.

In the meantime, stop by. Get your bike tuned up. Ask about our studio classes. Say hello.

You can expect the same great service and personalized touch in a welcoming family atmosphere. Because for us, cycling and triathlon aren't just sports—they're a way of life.

We can't wait to meet you.
